Why are there so many Negative votes? An update to Aperture is a very good thing for photographers.

I thought everything that was stamped "Made in USA" or "Made in America" was fully so until I had to set out for my master's thesis on a famous American made product that I adore (Fender Musical Instrument Corporation).
As far as fully made in America, I can understand my expensive pro skateboarder Daewon Song Signature jeans from Matix Clothing Company being American made and the price tag certainly shows that. They are great but regular Matix jeans made overseas are just as good. Outside of my prized jeans, and some cool Sears Craftsman tools from the old days, everything I have is completely or partially made in another country.
When I was researching my guitar collection and my favorite brand, Fender, I went to Fender Musical Instruments as my first possible topic. I love my American Standard Stratocaster and Fender Standard Stratocaster with optional Floyd Rose tremolo. Made in USA is in small print on the guitar so I felt like they were like my vintage Fenders and Gibson guitars which I grew up with which were made in the USA.
It turns out many of the bodies of the guitar body blanks (before finishing), regardless of price point are made at a state of the art factory in Mexico. And on the Fender Standard series (at that time), both body and neck and most electronics are made in Mexico. Oddly, some of the Mexican made electrics from Fender have American made electronics. And while Floyd Rose is an American guitar parts inventor of the highest reputation (then bought by Fender at the time), it turns out the Original Floyd Rose tremolo was made in Germany, or at least the ones I played and some subcontracted by Schaller in Germany among others in the long history of Floyd Rose tremolos.
Later electric guitar models, regardless of maker or sticker or stamp, which are active electronics and may incorporate a small motherboard/daughterboard, have some of the electronic parts made in Taiwan. And that's just guitars and guitar components.
Now imagine how much more complex an "American" car is. Is is assembled here? Probably in most cases and not surprisingly some "foreign" cars are assembled here. But then where are the electronics of said American car from? Where was the paint made? Where were the plastics acquired from? Where is the glass from? Who made the tires, and if so, is it standard on all the car lines? Heck, are all the workers US citizens and/or legally allowed to work in the USA who are at the Ford plant? etc..
So when it comes to "Made in America", unless it's fairly straightforward like my more expensive Matix jeans or my buddy's American made, more expensive New Balance shoes, both which have a limited amount of parts/suppliers, there is no Made in America/USA products that are 100% percent so. It really pains me when somebody around me, in Silicon Valley, still thinks everything Apple is "Made in Cupertino".
That being said, I love any Fender guitar I have come across whether owning it, testing it out, or borrowing it for a gig, every Apple product I have ever owned, and the Matix jeans, my sole American product are not bad either.
I don't really care where a product is made if it is good. I just do my part for my region and buy locally, even if it costs even 10%-20% percent more.

Today my friend and i recorded this song and a couple others, this was our favorite and we wanted to see if people liked it so i thought i would ask you all :)

Well, the only airline I remember which had seat-back displays for all passengers was WestJet. I just flew United and the smaller planes didn't even have an in-house audio system, let alone video.

Most airlines that fly trans-atlantic and pacific have individual displays for everybody. In coach, most of them play the same movies and series over and over, but in business/first, most of the time you can choose what to watch, and even pause/stop the movies.

In the snow areas more damage is done to the roads with thawing and freezing than the cars driving over them. Road salts eat through quicker than cars just driving on them. Sure the cars add to the wear but they are not the only factor. As long as we plow and treat the roads they will need to be repaired quicker regardless of how much traffic there is.

I don't buy it. What a nightmare that would be if just touching that area of the iPod took you back to the home screen. (Even the MacBook trackpads require a physical 'click' in order to register.) This would be a usability disaster.
Couldn't agree more. While I like that Apple strives to get rid of buttons, I think that there ought to be an exception in a case like this. Besides, it's a total usability plus to have the ONLY button take you home.

Just from my observation (I have no hard data or anything), it seems that at least 25% of new mac buyers are switchers. And from conversations I've heard around my office, I think that number will continue to grow. Apple is really turning heads with this transition to Intel. People like to know what they're getting in a machine (even if they don't really understand the components themselves) and Intel is a household name for the windows world. Good stuff. ;)

On the one hand he is right.
I work in IT, and the iPad to me is just a novelty toy.
I have one an use it for just 2 things(reading the newspaper and watching movies on the train to my work). And for just those 2 things it is rather expensive.
On the other hand the thing I liked the most about OS X, is that is able to be used hardcore-IT people(thanks to being a UNIX) and complete noobs. And this is something I miss in the iPad(for the iPhone I don't care, i have an SSH-app in case of emergency when I'm not near a computer and that's it.
Making couchbrowsers(cause thats what iPads are mostly used for) for non-tech people is good.
But I just hope they still care about tech-savy people in OS X.

I don't buy it; Apple offers the Apple TV for $99 which provides AirPlay. I don't think they'll license out the software; Apple has too many negative experiences with licensing out software... :cool:
How many AppleTV's were sold last year? How many TV's? How many DVD players? How many AV Receivers?
If AirPlay were implemented on 50% of the TV's being sold and 50% of the AV receivers, 50% of the DVD players, Sony PlayStation, and Nintendo Wii then even at only $4 per device they could end up making more money than they do with AppleTV and in the end make the living room "simpler" for their customers. They would also boost potential sales and rentals of video from the iTunes store.
Just look at the proliferation of Netflix streaming enabled devices on the market today, there is a lot of money to be made here even if it does end up killing the AppleTV.

Whats this feature for? I don't know if it was in SL Server but its part of the mail settings and don't know if its for certification or for using apple's mobile me mail service for pushing mail to iOS devices.
This looks like Push notifications for email will finally work :-)

Something I am seeing more and more which is downright terrifying/befuddling to me is the notion that not giving someone something is the same as taking something from them. Example: Tax cuts. I hear time and time again that tax cuts "cost" the government money. Excuse me?
If I decide to take a day of work off unpaid, is it the same as my employer "taking" money from me? No! They simply did not give it to me!
