I prefer the Japanese Mac guy. Although I dare say the Justin Long character is probably more truly representative of many Mac users (somewhat smug, somewhat superior, superficially focused on looks) :p

Just because the update is 100Mb (or whatever) does not mean that it needs 100Mb more disk space. If Apple want to update an executable then the updater contains the whole thing. So if the updater contains a new executable that is 10Mb and the existing one is 9.5Mb then you only need 0.5Mb more space.

I wonder if heating will be an issue with the Air's casing and Sandy Bridge processors. I've read/heard that they may cut the SB power in half (whatever that means; I apologize, my tech-knowledge is poor) to reduce heat, but what will that mean for the processing speed? Or might Apple have a solution by innovating the design/fans/whatever?

Apple won't use 10.4.10, it doesn't look elegant.

What are people mainly using the Push for? I certainly wouldn't want to be updated every time one of my friends posts on Facebook... I know there are different settings - just wondering what kind of updates people use this for.
I don't get all the confusion people are having...
The push notifications just push your facebook.com notifications... the little red numbers at the bottom right of the screen. Those, including new messages in your inbox and event invites (which don't show up as badges because they don't show up as little red notifications in facebook.com to begin with.)
You don't receive a facebook.com notification whenever one of your hundreds of friends updates there status, so you won't receive a push notification on the facebook app either.

I wish you all the best iGary. Having a good sense of humor is important. Since I'm a nurse and worked on a surgical floor, I've had a lot of experience with patients before and after surgery. You can PM if you would like to ask specific questions via iChat. I personally had general anesthesia three times T&A, wisdom teeth, and bronchoscopy (looked into my lungs with a tube.)

They work, buy passing a relativly large current 3-20 amps, depending on wattage. to draw heat from one side to another basically. one side is -10 degrees c. The other is +80 degrees c.
This hits what I think is their main hurdle...how do you get these numbers down.
A nearly 100C difference and the amps alone make this really a problem for basic consumer devices..

my att iphone 4 was set to automatic time for phx az and it moved my clock ahead by an hr today even tho az doesnt do daylight savings so it shouldn't have to change ever.. the clock app has had problems since the beginning which is just ridiculous..
to fix all i had to do tho was turn automatic time off then back on and it corrected itself.

Strange...maybe it's just a rehash of Itunes 7 and the Ipods to the EU... though Aperture 1.5 should be on its' way soon. Though I'm actually hoping for a nice leica/zeiss announcement.

well after I ran the software update and installed the SMC firmwire update for my macbook, starting up has gotten a lot slower. When I turn on my computer, the corner light thing goes on. but the computer doesn't actally start up ten seconds after I press the power button...

Well what a day, Mac Expo the the Leopard launch i was pretty much at the front of the queue, well outside the Lacoste Shop anyway.

You would have to be an absolute Apple-hater to go to Best Buy, play with both the iPad 2 and the Xoom (both currently on display for play) and come away thinking the Xoom was a better product. Go compare them yourselves side-by-side (well, they are about 15 feet apart at my Best Buy) and decide for yourself. For me, the iPad is still the clear leader in both fit & finish, screen (off-angle viewing) and simplicity-user friendliness of OS. And the Apps availability really seals the deal if you want to consider what you will actually do with the hardware once you get it home.
