When I joined this forum it was to look advice on my case and to offer help when I could. No one has ever taken the time to explain what the objectives of the Core are. What I see alot of are #1 asking people to contribute and #2 members complaining about people asking their questions in the wrong area or opening too many threads. Someone needs to explain fully what Core is doing and list ways for the members to help. I would love to help if I can. Unfortunately I don't have a lot to offer financially being that my husband and I are living off one income. I wish I could go to the rally but I cant afford to do that either. There must be some way that I can help- stuffing envelopes or something- anything. But what I would love to see is an explanation of what it is the Core is trying to accomplish and a set of guidelines for posting if possible because I am so sick and tired of seeing "please close this thread"

Your case is a bit different, I am not sure if you could avoid paying back as GC process is for your benefit so a company could request a pay-back, even though amount is a bit high and you did not get anything in return. I would compare it to a situation where company gives an employee a laptop and expect person to return it when s/he leaves a company.
helloh1's clause is different - company receives benefits by training its employees so it's just plain wrong to request a pay back in that case.
So just forget about it and move on, we all make mistakes and here in the US those mistakes usually cost money.

IRS has a form to file if your W2 is missing... And you need to file taxes based on your best guess and last paystub with this bad employer... I had similar situation in 2000 and was very confused.. So I can understand your situation... And you need to paperfile.. cannot efile.. you can do on your own or thru any tax consultant... Its simple... These Desi employers won't give W2 to you and to IRS they'll tell they've mailed... So no one can harm them thisway... Only your case with DOL may bear some fruit... Feel free to PM me if need any advice...

Can i change my job from a biological researcher to a biostatistician? My current job is in the field of biology, which involves lots of experiments. If I change my job to a biostatistician, which is like a programmer, do i still qualify the "similar filed" rule? thanks for your help!
biostatistician job position can involve analysis of biological data. That qualifies you still as a biological researcher. Biological researcher is a very very very broad term working from bacteria to human genetic diseases; deep sea fish to suspected life forms in asteroids and space debri (astrobiology). It is basically a straightforward description of what you are going to do as a biostatistician and justification of how this will still qualify you as a biological researcher. That makes it very much job specific: if you are going to use statistical methods to analyze GE's cat scanner machine performace it would not be biological research, but if you are going to use some statistical methods in analyzing cat scanned body images and tie your analysis to clinical conditions it would. If you could post both your current job description in your gc application and the prospective biostatistican job description as you see, I can try to help you.

I prefectly agree with the fact that people are getting a bit overly impatient on the issues here , but I who has been patiently waiting and waiting and working with the state chapters just see a lull and silence on the immigration front ( Skilled and Unskilled ) . No one wants to talk about it or do anything about it on the Hill.Please prove me wrong here , I WANT TO BE WRONG !!!

Arnab, I understand your point. I mean it. My old priority date was Sept. '02 and after being stuck in backlog for years, I finally decided to change my job, my new priority date is in 2006.
Now, IV doesn't have control over the schedule followed by the US congress. Having said that, let me assure you that there is positive movement. If you look at recent posts by other members, you will see that momentum. That is the result of your efforts with DC rally and your contribution.
This last quarter of 2007 is do or die for us. That is why we are asking members to join state chapters and preparing for our next big push. All this may not be what you would be hoping for but guess what, without your efforts we wouldn't have come so far. So have some more patience.

Hi All
I just saw the USCIS GC approval email notice - EB2-I - Dec 20'th 2005 Priority Date
I have same issue as few others have. I'm not married yet. I have applied for GC and luckily the GC has been approved (when I really don't want it to be approved). ... Trust me I was praying god all the time.
My priority date is EB2-I Dec 20'th 2005 and god knows how they approved it much before every one else. When all others really want their GC's.
There are lots people who are in queue with Jan 2004 and later priority dates and whose cases are still pending... How could they approve my case so soon...
I have scheduled for a travel to India on August 15'th 2008 to get married. I wanted to marry and get my wife to USA. I 'm engaged with girl at India and all set for marriage this month (August 2008).
I believe my H1-B has been automatically canceled on immediate approval of GC.
How do I get my future wife to USA?. What are the options left out to me now?.
Please excuse me if this is a duplicate thread. I'm really in hurry and could not check all threads properly.

Hi Guys -
I filed my I485/EAD/AP at Nebraska on July 24th, 2007. Got receipts for all of them on September 19th. Done FP on October 23rd for myself and my wife and saw a LUD on I-485 a day after. EADs were approved and received on October 10th. But i have not received AP yet. Looks like my application is still with NSC. Never got a transfer notice or anything and online status also shows "Case received and pending at Nebraska".
There is only one LUD on AP and that was on September 21st. Nothing after that.
Anybody in the same boat? Do i need to make an infopass to get more information on this. I need to travel in December and want to make sure i get AP before that.

If you got first LUD on AP within last month .. Just wait for some days to complete the month from the day of first LUD. If it is more than 1 month, I believe you should take infopass appointment.

I think most of EB3I and EB2I are missing one point.
EB3I didn't loose anything by the change in spillover policy few years back.
It is EB3-world who lost. Obviously EB2I and EB2C was on the gainers side.
EarlierSpillover EB1row->EB2row->EB3row->EB1I/C->EB2I/C->EB3I/C
CurrentSpillover EB1row->EB1I/C->EB2row->EB2I/C->EB3row->EB3I/C
(or to be more precise, it is currently EB1->EB2->EB3 since spill overs are not considering country based limitations)
Either way EB3I was last in the que. So nothing changed for EB3I or EB3C.
EB2I or EB2C on the other hand moved ahead of EB3row, that is very noticeable.
EB1I/C also moved ahead of EB2row, by this is not that noticeable, since all these categories were close to "current" either way.
In summary, you change the spillover whatever way.... EB3I is always going to be at the end of the line, least benefiting from any spill over.

It would also increase the per-country cap for employment-based visas to ten percent of the annual total."
