actually Gotcher has a very valid point. USCIS creates rules based on their need and 'flavor of the month'. They should be open with their practices. We can then calculate the time it will take to get out of this mess.
Once FBI name checks were a great deal, now they are ok to issue GCs in the interm, thousands were screwed in the process. Some times it is FIFO sometimes it is received date, sometimes it is something else. There are thousands whose professional lives are hanging at the mercy of these rules and arcane methods of functioning.

do we need carry the supporting documentation(Birth/Marrriage certificate, old H1Bs, etc) certifacte while travelling with GC? Please share your experience.
I know that other than the GC and the passport...you don't need any other document. I guess your question can be interpreted as ...would those other documents help if you somehow lose your GC while traveling outside?

I do not get it.
As far as I know, a CP applicant can always switch over to AOS if already inside the US. It is harder for an AOS applicant to switch to CP.
You will have to make a choice. Do you want the benefits of CP or AOS? The way things are presently, you cannot have both. So pick one.
But the PD has to be current to switch over.

EAD Card production ordered as of 8/19.
E-filed: 7/11
Receipts: 7/18.
No Finger printing notice received. This was at NSC. Mostly will get 2 years EAD as my PD is nowhere near to current but will update everyone for sure once I receive the cards!

I am working in tech field doing techie stuff (like System.out.println ;)) I did PMP in Jan 2008.. so far i didnt get a chance to use my PM skills (thanks to USCIS for not giving me GC yet and limiting my ability to look for better job)
I havent done MBA so I did learn few (project) management lessons while preparing for PMP.. although I wouldnt say that real world project management generally follows what is published by PMI
For studying PMP, I would highly recommend reading PMP Prep book by Rita Mulcahy.. I never read PMBOK... Also, give few mock up exams (there are plenty available on net)...
I am preparing for CFA level 1.. and man PMP was much easier! (just comparing one certification to the other - one with 5 books to read and other with only 1 book!)

This does sound strange, do you know what was the reason for this officer's visit to your employer two months back? also, i would suggest make sure all your paper work is fine, I mean LCA etc. indicating your correct place of work and right wages.
first of all make sure it was a genuine call
call USCIS back and find out if there is a visit scheduled for your house
also be carefull, check all credentials of whoever wants to come to your house
economy is bad, recession is in ,the crime rate is going to get bad, especially against immigrants etc
ps also i would second the visit at your office place instead and if need be , in the presence of a lawyer

We may think that the debate on illegal immigration has nothing to do with our issues but the corrupt Senators will always try to sneak in some reform related to illegal immigrants into our bills in exchange for their votes, ultimately derailing the entire bill.
Ok, I've seen a lot of threads about go to the rally, actions items, I've reading a lot of guys saying dont ask for your receipt status, dont waste your time etc, etc.

Question remains open:
1. When are they going to increase the GC quota?

I would say another problem is getting the H1 stamped. Ever since they got rid of getting the H1 stamped within US we have to go out of the country to get it stamped and you never know how much time it is going to take. Now due to PIMS delays some people are getting stuck for more than a month and no one can afford such long holidays .
On top of that if you are going out of the country then there are airline tickets and stamping fee etc etc which also comes in 1000's of dollars.

i think gc_maine2 has a valid question...especially if you use H1 transfer (6-9 years) for the new employer and not EAD

Person X has completed 180 days after 485 filing, used is 6 yrs of H1 and now he got a 3 yrs of H1B from the same employer. If this person uses AC21 & EAD and joins another company and after 1 yr his 485 is rejected for wrong reasons, will this person be out of status(since used EAD) or will be in status since his H1b is still valid with the old employer (Assumed the employer has not revoked). Will it be safe to come back to the same employer.

was it EB2 or EB3?
It was EB2. The vast majority of the CA's we show equivalent to a US bachelor's degree. However in this case since it is officially recognized as a PGD a professor felt it was equivalent to a US masters and USCIS agreed. As a rule I would say CA=BA + 5 years work exp is a better way to go for EB2.

1) DHS trying some new exercises which are completely new. I thought we had seen it all but this is a new one.

Ans: Never been to a police station here or any where (I mean to say no cases at all)
3) Did you have any unlawful status of more than 6 months during your presence in US.
