Looks like it's designed by anyone else than Apple people. I hope I'll get used to it. Maybe.

I find it weird that you get a remote control and front row...Many people buying Mac Pros are getting them as their home computer, and it's pretty lame that you drop extra money on the high end and can't do some of the really cool things that can be done on a lower end model.
Hi,
You've raised some good points.
However, many of the people buying Mac Pros are in the creative services industry (film, graphic design, audio engineering). I don't know how processor hungry remote control and front row are, but I do know these users require the most power out of their machines.
Having said that, with ever faster machines, I see no reason for them not to include these two programs in the "complete Leopard package" in 2007 for all Macs sold.
My 2 cents worth. ;)

Hum this is brilliant marketing.
The subscription price serves as an anchor price that makes you feel the regular price is cheaper, hence more buying are expected at regular price.
What people don't understand is that the rental prices are beneficial for new startup design firms or freelance creative professionals to get started right away in an affordable price UNTIL they have money or better credit to make a full purchase by that time. Adobe, I think, is doing the right thing here.
I do not condone piracy or stealing off Adobe products JUST because they're expensive. The software is NOT a kiddie doodle app for hobbyists. This is PRO level we are talking here.

Classic ain't going anywhere until they have product that could replace it. Right now there is nothing in the lineup that is close.
Where have I heard that one before? (http://www.macrumors.com/2010/11/05/apple-discontinues-xserve-only-available-until-january-31st/)

Very nice with the Cinema Display on the wall. Great family photo as well; my family pictures are always awful. :)

Maybe it is referring to support of Adobe Air SDK for the iPhone. Maybe this is the SDK they have been talking about?

If that iPhone is true, then it would be the ugliest product released by Apple in a long time. What's next...a Pippin 2 Perhaps..
It's a picture of a MacBook Pro, but it's just cut off at the edge.

Reading the reactions to iPod in 2001 were hilarious. It shows how far we've come in our trust of Apple, I'm not speaking as an expert. Now it seems like if Steve Jobs breathes we'll buy it. I am sad to see the iPod go I have 120gb and may have to upgrade before they go. I use every kb of mine.

I'm also to the point of getting a MacBook for my next computer so I can bring it to work... I am SO much more efficient on my Mac than on my work PC. It's mostly due to expose, spotlight, and the dashboard.
I've already two computers on my desk at work, both of which are XP boxes, and I'd still rather bring my (as soon as C2D ships) MBP to work on that. Though I don't know if I'd actually want to hook it into the network at work. It's a pretty shady one.
Of course, not having had an macintel before, I have a question about parallels. How easy is it really to switch between the two systems? Is it a PITA or is it pretty easy? For me, it's easy to move from computer to computer to work with very little productivity lost. How much time does it take to switch between OS's when using Parallels?
Thanks.

No, I'm saying this completely fake but probable guy isn't doing well enough with his full time job (which is as a graphic artist), so he's doing a little freelance work to get to a point where he can afford his various monthly payments. It's a break even thing, and there's not much left over, if any... theoretically.
And this fake and completely improbable guy scenario can't ask his boss to use the legally licensed copy at work after hours or just use an older version version ? Or can't do without the FULL CS suite and just buy the portions he needs ? Or... just use another tool than Adobe's that is cheaper ?
No seriously, not an excuse or valid scenario. A freelancer would find a way if he's motivated enough.

Wow, all of these vista versions, which one do I pick? I think I'm going to end up going with the Windows Really Good Edition (http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/winrg.php).
(Yes, I know it's been posted before, but I had to do it.)

agree - apple needs a thin and light 12" laptop or similar.
Where is my 2 lb Apple laptop? Sony has one. Panasonic has one.

Thanks for the info! I went to ikea today and picked one up in black/brown. I'll post some pics of my setup tomorrow. This desk is awesome, its changed my workspace/mac setup forever! :D
You're very welcome. :) I've one (a "Corner desk-left") in beech veneer (with 6 silver A-legs) & I personally feel that these Galant desks are just fabulous. :)

I don't know how to include a screenshot in here but can anyone explain what the item in the Preferences > Advanced > General is that says:
'Allow iTunes control from remote speakers'
Also, while looking for iTunes7 I read that v 6.0.5 could send audio to more than one set of remote speakers simultaneously. How do you do that?

I love the earbud comment...if you're close enough to a girl to wirelessly send her songs, you should be talking to her (assuming you're interested), not futzing with your Zune.

BREAKEVEN: is 25 MILLIONS TRACKS DOWNLOADED!!!
OUCH!
The Beatles are OLD and HISTORY.
They will NEVER break even on this contract.
You're just wrong. Not everyone who buys music online is a 14 year-old. There are millions of baby-boomers with credit cards and lots of disposible income. And plenty of 14 year-olds will be downloading Beatles music, too.

Amazing, how many half-wits are out there!
There is a larger issue in Hewitt's statement, which seems to totally go over some people's heads.
And to the "Facebook sucks" crowd: may be so, but there are a lot more Facebook users, than iPhone users. So it's still important.
And really, over the last few years, my otherwise beloved Apple has turned into the George W. Bush of PC companies. Look at their newly found moral stance, regarding applications. Or their strong-arm tactics. Or the picking of wars not likely to be in their own interest - like the ones with Google, and Adobe.
Or, the fact, that the truly religious (and uninformed), blindly follow, no matter where.
very well put. it's the human condition commercialised. if only apple could step back and see itself for what it has become aside from very rich.

If you try going to:
www.apple.com/movies
it gives you a page that says:
403 Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /movies on this server.
Does this mean anything?

Good developers dislike regulation, but in the case of apps, I think its needed. Without regulation, I can just go and make some crap app (that wouldn't work) put a $0.99 price and hope for 20-40 fools a month to accidently buy it. Repeat this step probably 100s of times with clueless "developers" who don't know what they are doing. Regulation at least guarantees the app works, although the functionality and usefulness of the app is up for judgement by the end user.

PC sales are shrinking because of stagnation in the primary driving force for selling new PC hardware.
Games.
Gamers now have 4 platforms to choose from (smart phone, console, hand-held, PC), and game developers are putting LESS dollars into high end PC titles and concentrating on consoles for their premium products.
With no Diablo 3 (or whatever) to entice me with gameplay I can't find anywhere else, I have much less of a reason to play games on my PC rig, much less upgrade it.
When it comes to writing emails or checking facebook, a smart phone or tablet will do that just as well as a PC.
Macs have never been gaming machines, so they are immune from that particular effect. It is 'trendy' to have a macbook right now (seriously, go to a coffee shop and tell me what you see), and the vast majority of their sales are to less-technology/gadget-savvy users who have bought their Mac because of other people telling them that Macs are good, rather than the hardware, specs, or software on the computer.
In the end, it is all marketing... which is the case with most of Apple's products. They have been selling PC hardware now for years at a higher price than their competitors. Windows 7 isn't any worse (or better) than MacOS for browsing the web or checking email..... so its not the OS that is influencing soccer moms and emo kids to buy Mac either.
